Membersip / Alumni Retreat
August 26, 2000

Attendees:  Mark Brooks, Chris Jones, Boone Atkins, Brad Burnfield, Danny Weir, Jon Lund, Roger Davis, David Newberry, Clint Osteen, and SIG EP Active Chapter

Meeting Summary:  Below you will find the results of the chapter and alumni retreat held in Waco on August 26th.   We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Mark Brooks for pulling it all together and to all the Alumni who traveled to Waco to spend one of there Saturday’s with the chapter.

The retreat was organized into three breakout sessions, which were designated as Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love.   Each of these sub-teams was responsible for identify goals and improvement ideas for alumni relations, recruitment, risk management, new member development, scholarship, or improving chapter involvement.

Both alumni and active sponsors are encouraged to make the most of these ideas and carry them to fruition.  In this spirit, Mark Brooks has established a monthly visit for alumni to chapter meetings to offer assistance.  Please feel free to volunteer for this effort (contact Mark if interested).

Retreat Breakout Session Results:

Alumni Relations

Recommended Improvement Ideas/Goals:
1)      Improve communication
     a.      Utilize electronic news letter
     b.      Set calendar early in semester
     c.      Enhance and maintain current web-site
2)      Keep-up Football Game tailgate parties
     a.      Hold BBQ at every game
     b.      Focus on 1 or 2 barbecues for entire         alumni involvement
     c.      Utilize tip jars to underwrite costs
3)      Set-up alumni activity day for alumni and families
4)      Hold yearly alumni ritual with chapter

1.  Establish documented/structures pledging program (same as above).
2.  Establish formal process for selecting pledge trainer (interview, standards, accountability)

4.  Enforce Baylor pledge curfew for members and pledges
5.  Educate members on proper party/social etiquette
6.  TIPS training (alcohol awareness)
7.  Utilize controlled party techniques, security guards, and quest lists
8.  Enforce designated driver programs
9.  Eliminate web sites with compromising pictures
