Scholarship Awards

Brothers,

The Texas Rho Alumni Board of Sigma Phi Epsilon is proud to announce the chapter's scholarship winners for the Fall '03 semester.  Three individual scholarships of $200 each were given:

Dedication Scholarship - Our winner was Harris Sessions.  Harris was nominated by John Herring: "Harris hasn't missed a single meeting since he's been in the chapter.  He is the first person at service every week and is always the last person to leave.  This past meeting, after our current service chair decided to drop the position, Harris made the effort to step up and take over where he left off. He has attended every single event and function we have been involved with this semester.  He is excited about the fraternity, willing to put in the effort to make the fraternity better."  John denies that he and Harris are actually dating.

Academic Scholarship - Our winner was Clark Steffens.  Clark finished last semester with a 4.0 GPA.  His curriculum included Organic Chemistry II and Physics II.  This brought Clark's overall GPA to 3.84.  Clark is a Biology/Pre-Dental major whose performance on the Dental Admission Test (DAT) put him into the 92nd percentile across the country.  He will be attending the Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas in Fall 2004.

Financial Need Scholarship - Our winner was Aaron Wolf.  While the details of Aaron's financial situation will be kept confidential, it should be noted that Aaron was also a close runner-up for the academic scholarship, finishing the Spring '03 semester with a 3.73 GPA as a Biology/Pre-Optometry major and was named to the Baylor University Dean's All-Academic Honor List.

The purpose of these scholarships is to reward performance by easing the financial burden of fraternity involvement.  This semester marks the first time that the Alumni Board has been able to give scholarships to the active chapter and we hope to make this a recurring event each semester.  These were made possible by the generous contributions of the various alumni to last year's fundraising drive.  For those who would like to give to this year's drive and support our future scholarship winners, you can email Kevin Stevenson at kwstevenson@yahoo.com or Billy Withrow at bgw_13@hotmail.com for details or more information about the Board.  Once again, congratulations to all of our winners.

HFF,
Alumni Board
